These photos don't show the meme: they're a graffiti and a cosplay that show how fans take the characters off the screen, just like they're doing now with Gucci Morty.

Why it works as an aura meme
The meme relies on a contrast: Morty is the character who tags along on Rick's adventures, and here he shows up in designer clothes with a nonchalant face, as if nothing mattered. That's the aura formula: zero visible effort and zero explanation. Unlike anime edits, it doesn't need a scene from the show: the image alone is already the joke.

How it connects to aura farming
"Aura farming" started as internet slang: the earliest mention documented by Know Your Meme is from January 28, 2024 (a bowling video on TikTok). Over time "aura" became a wildcard for anything that looks incredibly cool, and Gucci Morty is an example of the ironic version: nobody is "farming" anything, fans are just attributing aura to an image.
